"Water Cycle"

FORMAT: DIGITAL & 12" Vinyl

DIGITAL RELEASE DATE: 15.10.2022

Every year since 2017, Taner Öngür continues to expand his solo discography with a thematic album. Known as the bass guitarist of the pioneer band of the Anatolian Pop movement, MoÄŸollar, Taner Öngür has also published a serie of home-made albums where he discovered the hidden corners of Istanbul and Anatolia’s musical treasuries, as he explored the vast universe of progressive and psychedelic musics. In his 2022 release, he pays visit to two iconic names of Turkish literature: worldwide known poet Nazım Hikmet and  and one of the pioneers of post-modern Turkish literature Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar. This progressive musical trip gets together two long and striking poems under a continuous cross-genres-musical interpretation by Öngür's own prog-rock-surf-swing blended sound. (Ironically this release also fits to the 60th anniversary of the first publish of Hikmet’s poem, and the loss of Tanpınar)

In this special release, Taner Öngür's band 43.75, formed by Haluk Önol (guitar), Arif Ortakmaç (bass) and Bartu Özbatur (drums), are backed with Serap Yağız on vocals; and another legendary name, UÄŸur Dikmen on piano & keyboards, who has worked with important names and been part of cult projects of the Anatolian Pop and Rock movement, including Cem Karaca, DerviÅŸan and many others.
